CHICAGO, July 25, 2018 − Constellation Brands, Inc. (NYSE: STZ and STZ.B), a leading beverage alcohol company, announced today that it has promoted John Alvarado to Senior Vice President, Brand Marketing for the company’s Beer Division. In his new role, Alvarado will be responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction to Constellation’s Beer Brand Marketing teams, which support the company’s imported beer brands including the Corona and Modelo families of brands, Pacifico and Victoria, as well as Constellation’s Craft & Specialty beer brands including Ballast Point, Funky Buddha, Four Corners and SVEDKA Spiked Seltzer. He will serve as a member of the company’s Marketing Leadership Team and report directly to Jim Sabia, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer.

“Brand building is an essential part of Constellation’s growth and our industry leadership,” said Sabia.  “Our Marketing team is relentlessly focused on creating consumer demand for our iconic beer brands, and I know that John is the right person to help us continue building on the momentum we’ve gained in the marketplace.”

Alvarado joined Constellation Brands in 2007 and has held a number of leadership roles. He was promoted to Vice President, Brand Marketing for the Beer Division in 2013, and has served as Brand Marketing lead for two of the company’s biggest beer brands, Corona and Modelo. Under his leadership, Corona Extra - the #1 imported beer in the U.S. - was recognized as a Best Global Brand by Interbrand (a global brand consultancy, 2017 Annual Report). Most recently, Alvarado spearheaded the successful national introduction of Corona Premier and Corona Familiar. He also led the successful re-launch of Corona cans, a campaign that helped double sales of Corona Extra cans and was recognized with an Impact Team of the Year award.

“At Constellation, we pride ourselves in putting consumers at the heart of everything we do, reaching them in new and exciting ways, and engaging with them on an emotional level,” said Alvarado. “I’m truly honored to take a broader role in helping lead these efforts for our fast-growing beer portfolio.”
